This news is not what Spurs fans wanted to see

Tottenham defender Ledley King is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines. The Spurs captain was taken off just before half-time in the side's 1-1 draw at home to Portsmouth this afternoon with a torn hamstring.

The England international has been plagued with injury over the past 18 months or so and this news will no doubt come as a blow to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp. Speaking after the game, Redknapp had this to say about the injury : "Ledley King has a torn hamstring and is going to be out long term."

What a shame. The Spurs centre-half has been one of few shining lights this season for the North London club. There is no two ways about it, Spurs are in a relegation battle and losing one of their best players in King could have a major impact on their season. I am sure I speak on the behalf of the majority of Spurs fans, get well soon Ledley.
