Arsenal manager hopes to gain work permit for Ryo Miyaichi so he can 'put him on the pitch'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants young Japanese talent Ryo Miyaichi to remain at the Emirates this season and is keen to secure a work permit for the winger.

Miyaichi signed for the Gunners in January after impressing Wenger during a trial period, at which point the 18-year-old was loaned out to Dutch club Feyenoord in order to help him adjust to European football.

The young winger was part of the Frenchman’s squad during the summer's pre-season action although was unable to play in the Emirates Cup due to FIFA ruling.

Wenger is seemingly keen for Miyaichi to push for a first-team spot and challenge the likes of Theo Walcott and new signing Gervinho for a starting place this season and admits he is attempting to secure the work permit needed for the winger to play in England.

He told the club's official website: "My plan is to get a work permit for him and to put him on the pitch for Arsenal Football Club."
